Servicing the manual gearbox and rear differential on a BMW E90, E91, E92 or E93 doesn’t need to be complicated – but with BMW changing transmission oil specifications throughout the E9x production run, it’s easy to order the wrong fluids. This BMW E9x Manual Gearbox & Differential Oil Service Kit removes the guesswork by supplying the correct OEM-spec Ravenol oils for vehicles that require BMW MTF-LT-3.

This kit is suitable for BMW E9x models fitted with a manual transmission specified for MTF-LT-3, covering both petrol and diesel variants. If your gearbox carries the green MTF-LT-3 identification sticker, this is the correct oil combination for a full gearbox and differential service.

Manual Gearbox Oil – BMW MTF-LT-3 Specification

For the gearbox, the kit includes Ravenol MTF-3 75W, a fully synthetic manual transmission fluid developed to meet BMW MTF-LT-3 requirements. This is the correct factory-approved oil used in later E9x manual gearboxes.

The kit supplies 2 litres, allowing for the typical 1.5-litre service fill, with a small surplus remaining – ideal for ensuring a complete and correct refill.

Rear Differential Oil – OEM-Approved Specification

For the rear differential, the kit includes Ravenol VSG 75W-90, a high-performance fully synthetic gear oil carrying the relevant BMW approval for standard open rear differentials. One litre is supplied, which is the correct quantity for a service fill.

Note: This oil is suitable for vehicles with a standard open rear differential only. Vehicles fitted with a factory or aftermarket limited-slip differential (LSD) require a different oil specification.

European Warehouse: Certain performance components are sourced from European distribution hubs and carry a lead time of 5–10 working days. This is clearly labeled on the product page.

International Supplier Stock (Auxbeam): Auxbeam items not held physically by us are supplied via international distribution and carry a lead time of 10–15 working days.

Manufacturer Stock (Australia): Parts supplied directly from Australia (DBA, Xforce, etc.) are processed as special orders. These do not show a live UK quantity and carry extended lead times of 6 weeks as specified on the product page.
