Servicing the (now basically legendary) BMW B58 engine shouldn’t involve second-guessing which oil or filter to use. That’s why we’ve put together this complete B58 service kit for six-cylinder BMW F-series petrol models such as the 340i, 440i and M140i – using the correct oil specification, a quality filter, and full OEM approval.
Supplied as standard
This kit is supplied with RAVENOL SMP 5W-30, a fully synthetic engine oil carrying BMW Longlife-04 (LL-04) approval. SMP is designed for modern turbocharged petrol engines, offering excellent cold-start protection, stable viscosity under load, and a low-ash formulation suitable for BMW emissions systems – making it an ideal, OEM-correct choice for both daily use and spirited driving.
The oil is paired with the Ryco R2829P oil filter, ensuring correct filtration efficiency, oil flow, and long-term engine protection for the B58 platform.
Optional upgrades
For those looking to step things up further, this kit can be upgraded to RAVENOL VMP 5W-30 USVO. VMP is a PAO-based, fully synthetic oil featuring RAVENOL’s USVO® technology, delivering exceptional shear stability, reduced oil consumption, and outstanding wear protection under sustained heat and load – particularly well suited to higher-mileage engines, enthusiastic driving, or tuned applications.
You can also add RAVENOL Engine Cleaner as an optional upgrade. Used prior to the oil change, it helps dissolve internal deposits and contaminants, allowing the fresh oil to perform at its best from the first start-up – especially beneficial for engines with unknown service history or extended oil change intervals.
