The facelift Mustang GT takes approximately 9.5 litres of oil, which makes buying everything for a routine service surprisingly awkward. One 5-litre bottle is nowhere near enough, and generic service kits do not always provide the correct Ford oil specification or a filter suitable for a performance V8.

The correct oil and enough to finish the job
Castrol MAGNATEC 5W-20 E is a fully synthetic engine oil that meets Ford WSS-M2C948-B, the specification required by UK-market 2018–2020 Mustang GT and Bullitt models.
The two 5-litre bottles cover the engine’s approximately 9.5-litre capacity when replacing the oil filter. The remaining oil can be used to set the final level accurately or kept for future top-ups.
No calculating quantities, no searching for another litre and no mixing different oils because the first bottle was not enough.
A premium filter for the Coyote V8
The included Ryco Z928ST is not an inexpensive standard replacement. It belongs to Ryco’s premium SynTec performance range, developed for high-performance road, off-road and motorsport applications.
Ryco SynTec high-efficiency media removes at least 99% of contaminants at 20 microns while maintaining the oil flow required by the engine. This helps prevent damaging particles from circulating through the Coyote V8’s bearings, crankshaft and internal oil passages.
The filter features:
- High-efficiency synthetic filtration media
- Reinforced wire mesh for strength and unrestricted oil flow
- A high-temperature AEM rubber sealing gasket
- An anti-drain-back valve
- A steel spiral-wound internal core
- Resistance to cold-start and high-pressure oil surges
- A burst-pressure rating of 550 PSI
The Z928ST was also tested for the Gen 3 Mustang Coyote V8 used in Australian Supercars. Ryco positions its SynTec range as a premium upgrade over original-equipment filtration, balancing filtration efficiency, service life and unrestricted oil flow.

This kit is specifically matched to the facelift 2018–2020 cars. UK models from 2021 onward require a different engine oil specification.
